The Making of a MTL Café-Inspired Mural

Updated: Apr 10, 2021

But I've got a blank space, baby And I'll write your name

-Taylor Swift, Blank Space

The Inspiration

Sitting in a café is normally just what I need to inspire a daily dose of creative thought and imagination. My home atelier needed a bit of love, considering I've been sitting in it more than usual, you know, looking out the window. I was inspired by the colors in this stunning mosaic tile at my neighborhood shop, Le Café Bloom in Pointe-St-Charles. This DIY wall project is also really trending right now, all over my Pinterest feed :) . I recreated this look with 6 colors mixed from leftover wall paint, painters tape and some love. Add in some 90s R&B, brew some coffee and you've got yourself a 10 hour-quarantine-painting-jam-session.

The Making

This went from 0 to 100 real quick, yo! If a picture is worth a thousand words, then, a video must be worth, like, a lot.

The Colors

Latte *obvi!*, turquoise, light green bright yellow, rose and peach

Color Therapy & Chakras

I have been craving the energy of colors lately, especially the color green. The color green is associated to the heart chakra at the center of chest. BTW Chakras are energy centers in the body that link our energetic and physical bodies with universal life-force energy.

Color: Green Location: Center of chest

Meaning:This chakra represents the ability to give and receive love, compassion, expansion, empathy, service to others, kindness, health, and healing. We experience loss, regret, pain, low self-love, and low self-worth when this chakra is imbalanced.

Hope you're having as much fun at home as I am! On to the next wall. :)
