Choosing organic and why it matters to your brew. ☕️ 🌎

Grand Cru Café | Review

But like, is this coffee like, organic? 💁🏻‍♀️

Sure is! Happy to discover Grand Cru Café, an organic, fair trade coffee roaster based in Montreal. I am loving this story of Jean-Paul and Isaac, two sommeliers who teamed up to begin this passion project. They were "looking for coffees from farms and / or unique regions organically grown and at an affordable price."

I need to point out their super cute, low profile, brown paper bag packaging. They are made in Quebec from recycled paper and avocado skin! All of their packaging is recyclable and compostable. 🥑 How cool? ♻️

Colombien Las Rosas BIO

This is such a feel good story. Las Rosas is an association of women coffee growers in Columbia. YASSSSS coffee queens 👸🏻! Check out this amazing project. 👇🏼

I really enjoyed these beans! I ground the beans coarser for French Press and I brewed slowly. Easy sipping on a Saturday morning, with a lot of complexity and fruityness. 😍

  • Body: Medium

  • Acidity: Low

  • Aromatics: Dark chocolate, cherries, sweet

This is recommended to be brewed with espresso, pour-over (Bodum, French Press, Espropress, Chemex, Kalita and Aeropess) and filter. Can’t wait to make a latte with it!

Peru Amazonas BIO

Another great discovery. I see myself sipping this fuller body brew as my first cup in the morning. I tried using my bialetti and it turned out wonderful with that kick I need for early wake ups. ☀️

  • Body: Medium full

  • Acidity: Medium

  • Aromatics: Cherry, red fruit, cocoa, milk chocolate and caramel

What is Organic Coffee?

Your health and the health of the planet both get a boost. 🌍

  • No synthetic fertilizers or chemicals are used in growing or production. This means cleaner beans, air, land, and water.

  • The coffee is grown with only organic fertilizers, like coffee pulp, chicken manure, or compost.

  • Organic farms also combat climate change by emitting less carbon than chemical farms, while also sequestering significant amounts of carbon.

  • Organic coffee beans are richer in healthful antioxidants.

  • Official certifications: Organic, UTZ and Rainforest Alliance. "The Rainforest Alliance’s mission is to create a more sustainable world by using social and market forces to protect nature and improve the lives of farmers and forest communities." Read more about Railforest Alliance here.

Let’s be more mindful of our planet, cool?
